Kangning He

Kangning completed her undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Edinburgh and Zhejiang University, graduating with First Class Honours. She subsequently joined the Balmus Lab at the University of Cambridge to pursue an MPhil in Clinical Neurosciences and has since continued her research in the lab as a Research Assistant.

Her previous research experience spans neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease and the molecular biology of atherosclerosis. Her current research focuses on understanding how DNA damage and repair pathways influence somatic CAG repeat instability in Huntington’s disease.

Using CRISPR-based screening approaches and degron technologies in human cell models, Connie investigates whether these pathways can be manipulated to promote CAG repeat expansion or contraction, with the aim of identifying potential therapeutic strategies for Huntington’s disease.
